On a cold night in January, a 4 lb Chihuahua was found hiding underneath a car. His owners could not be located, so he joined One Tail at a Time's adoption program where he has put on weight, had rotten teeth removed, been neutered, and given more love than he has ever known.

Recently, ET had several severe seizures that required emergency hospitalization. ET had a spinal tap which revealed fluid and inflammation in his brain. He is currently stable, loving life at his foster home, and getting top notch treatment. ET's vet bills were over $2,000 and counting.

Some amazing Chicago businesses have come together to donate great Valentine's Day dates and gifts to benefit our little Chihuahua!

This & That...

There's been lots going on the last few weeks: Eric and I traveled to the south for a quick post holiday family visit. Upon our return we rearranged our front room, Chicago finally got a lovely winter snow fall (so we've been keeping cozy inside), I've been working on some new designs and finishing up some online orders and wholesale orders and last but not least getting ready for a few upcoming shows...IndieWed and BMAC.

IndieWed is next Saturday the 28th and The Buyers Market of American Craft is a trade show in Philly that happens in mid Feb. (which means I have to get all my samples made and catalogs printed and marketing material mailed out to my current galleries and potential galleries). Lots to keep me busy the next few weeks!

I went to Ikea last week and bought some things to help me get my studio organized for the new year.
...while I was assembling my new goodies I had a little helper monster. He had to smell every little piece and check out every box....

Only three more days til Christmas!

The studio is officially done filling all holiday orders and I've hit over 500 sales in my Etsy Shop!

Birthday Celebration

Yesterday I celebrated my 28th birthday with my most favorite man!

...he surprised me with a delicious sushi dinner at one of our special spots in the city...

and then took me downtown for a little outdoor ice skating.

It was a wonderful birthday and on top of that a wonderful festive evening that got me super excited for Christmas!

After our skating adventure we stopped by the "bean" for a few photo opps and came a cross a group of Christmas carolers...it was a lovely and special surprise with all the Christmas lights sparkling in harmony with the lights of the city and the crisp night air...what a perfect evening!

Yesterday I took a quick break from the studio to head downtown for some light shopping with my friend Milena.

The holiday buzz is in full swing in the city...the lights are bright and twinkling, the donation bells are ringing on each corner, people are bustling in and out of shops and the horse and carriages are decorated with garland and ribbons.

I'm frantically running around trying to get all the last minute stuff down for the One of a Kind Show and trying to build up my inventory in the studio. The holiday orders are rolling in and things are getting super busy! I just have to make through one more weekend and then I'll be able to relax a little and enjoy the holiday season.

Eric and the dogs and I went home to Indianapolis for Thanksgiving and had a wonderful holiday eating, drinking and seeing friends and family!

...we even took a little boat ride at sunset (it was a pretty chilly excursion)...

Aren't these turkey cookies the cutest? My little cousin Kara made them and all the kiddos gobbled them up (pun intended).

I even painted my nails for the day (that way they look a little more presentable and cover up all the jewelry making nicks and dirt).

It's really starting to feel like Christmas is coming fast!

We'll put up our Christmas decorations next week when my mom comes to visit us in the city 9and maybe even have a small holiday open house once all my shows are over).

My Paper White bulbs are beginning to bloom. It's been very satisfying watching them change and grow so quickly over the last few weeks.

Today is going to be a busy day!

Now I'm off to the Water Works Visitor Center for the Meet Illinois Artisans sale at 163 East Pearson St. (pearson and michigan ave.) from 1pm to 4pm. Come downtown for a day of shopping on the mag mile and pick up some jewelry that is handmade in Illinois!

Minneapolis was wonderful to me! Thank you so very much to everyone who came out to support all of the jewelers (including myself) at the Walker Art Center's Jewelry Mart! It was a non-stop day of selling, chatting, meeting new people and getting great feedback.

Thanks again to everyone who stopped by my table and purchased jewelry or shared your lovely words of encouragement and support! I will definitely be heading back to Minneapolis again.

There was not enough room for me to pack my camera...so I just took a few pictures of my adventures with my phone.

I arrived in the land of 1000 lakes a bit early so I took a brisk morning stroll through the Sculpture Park.

After a very quick trip to Indianapolis I'm back in Chicago and very very busy in the studio!

A big thank you to everyone who came by my little booth at the Irvington Halloween Fest! It was a super fun day (and the costume watching was incredibly entertaining).

After the festival my Momma and I took the dogs for a brisk fall walk at one of the many lovely parks in the Indy area.

...it was a quick weekend but what fun it was...

Sweet home Indiana...

I'm headed back to Indy for the weekend to be a part of the Halloween festivities in Irvington (a small neighborhood on the east side of Indianapolis). The INDIEana HandiCraft Exchange will be setting up a big festival tent (with 30 awesome craft vendors) in conjunction with the Annual Irvington Halloween Festival. Here's the specifics of the location:

tent will be located in the lot between Tiqueables Antiques and Midwest Scooter on the south side of East Washington St. between Ritter and Arlington Avenues.

I've finally made some bracelets! I don't know why it has taken me this long to get them done...I don't really wear bracelets that often so I guess maybe that's why I never really made any.

I'm happy that I finally hunkered down and got it done though because I absolutely love them!

I got a new Diana lens and adapter for my Canon T1i this weekend. Since the lens is plastic it gives a nice softness and haze to the photos. Should be a fun little lens to play with!

My beloved little family (Eric, me and the doggies) arrived home from our Michigan camping trip earlier today. The dogs are bathed, smelling clean and tired as can be. We are almost unpacked and settled with the lingering smells and thoughts of campfire, woods, golden fall light and cool crisp air.

It's so nice to get away from the city and detoxify...and just be away from everyone...and just be.

We came back with a bounty of Red Delicious and Golden Delicious Apples that I plan to make into Apple Bread, Apple and Basil Jam and Apple Pie. I'm also going to pickle some yummy tomatoes that I have leftover from the farmers market.

I have lots and lots to catch up on in the studio (and lots to do in the kitchen) so it's going to be a busy week!

These earrings are untitled for right now. They belong to my Desert Collection. The blue stones are delicious rose cut Sapphires set in sterling silver.

They will be available at Taboo Studio in San Diego, CA in a few weeks (just in time for the start of the holiday season *so scary*).

Eric and I are taking the dogs apple picking, pumpkin patch hunting and camping in Michigan for a few days. Hope you all are getting to enjoy this lovely bit of heavenly fall weather! I truly love this season.

Eric's working tonight and I have the place all to myself. The dogs are keeping me company in the studio, I've got some good tunes on and a mint candle burning. I'm feeling excited about being productive and creative for the first time in a while. I'm not sure why but it always comes and goes in waves.

I'm working on some new gemstone rings (check back tomorrow for photos of the finished rings)

and I've been playing with my new camera...and loving it!

The dogs are always willing to be my models :)

Charger's new red ball is going to make the cut. This is the first ball we've found that he hasn't been able to shred to bits in 5 minutes.

Back home again in Indiana...

I came back to Indy this past weekend for the Carmel International Arts Festival. It's such a lovely show. Just the right size and in a community that's very supportive of the arts.

The first day was great. The weather was a little iffy all day but ended up holding out for us.

Unfortunately the second day was a wash out and they ended up closing the show early because of impending severe weather.

I'm still at home hanging with my ma for a few days and relaxing. I'll be back in Chicago tomorrow afternoon and back in the studio to work on all my orders and get started on my holiday inventory. Someone at the show reminded me that Christmas Eve was less then three months a way! Now that's a scary thought!

On a different note, Eric and I got excited about the cooler fall weather and impulsively bought the dogs some cute new vests for the coming cold weather. I think they'll like being extra warm and cozy and of course looking extra adorable.

While I was out and about today in Wicker Park I picked up a small sealed envelope that was mixed in with all the flyers and business cards at the front of a book shop. There were no clues as to what it was or what was sealed inside (I was very intrigued and of course opened it right away)...there was a folded piece of paper and typed on it was this sweet little poem with an anonymous author:

Lots of great things have happened in the last few days!

So here it goes:

Renegade Chicago was a blast! As usual it was a wonderful weekend filled with beautiful weather, friendly faces, awesome customers, good friends and fun, fun, fun! This has to be one of my favorite shows and it sort of marks the changing of the seasons here in the city (for me at least). It was such a busy weekend that I wasn't able to walk around at all to see any of the other artists or take many photos but I was able to snap a few quick shots.

Thank you to everyone who came out to see me at the show! I couldn't be doing what I'm doing without all of the love, support, kind words and encouragement from my wonderful customers, friends and family!

After a big show I normally take a few days off to recoup from the long days and the even longer days of prep work right before the show.

It worked out perfectly since Eric had Monday off as well! So we made our way downtown and leisurely strolled around with no plans snapping photos all day long (digital and polaroid), shopped a little and enjoyed a nice dinner at the HopLeaf.

Today was lovely and relaxed with a little sleeping in and lounging around. Eric and I ventured out into our neighborhood with the dogs and had some more fun with the polaroid camera.

The days have been hot but sadly shorter. Yesterday, before making it to my bench to grind out some jewelry Eric and I went to the beach for a few hours to soak up some of the lingering summer sun.

(we're enjoying this lovely part of the city as much as we can before it gets too cold)

Feeling Better

I'm feeling much better and I'm back to work in the studio making lots of jewelry and preparing for Chicago Renegade!

I had a dear friend from high school visit this past week...we played catch up, chit chatted, ate and drank and hung out like the last time we saw each other was last week. That's the greatest part about good friends, it's like no time has passed even if it has been years.

We adventured around the city, partook in a few touristy things and took lots of photographs! We also enjoyed a day of hiking and relaxing in the sun at The Indiana Dunes.

Unfortunately I got sick last night and have not recuperated...so I won't be making it to the Bucktown Arts Fest this weekend. I've given up my booth space to an artist on the wait list. I'm so sorry for any inconveniences and for the last minute cancellation. I don't think I would've lasted through the set up tomorrow morning.

Day Trip

Yesterday Eric and I took the dogs to the Indiana Dunes State Park to do a little hiking and swimming. I always love visiting the dunes and escaping the hustle and bustle of the city. It gives us a chance to recharge our batteries and just be peaceful for a while.

(but it always seems to be lingering in the distance beckoning us back)

not a soul in sight.

It makes me so happy to watch the dogs have such a grand time being wild and running free.

My handsome boys approach the beach and listen to the waves and enjoy the view.

Hope you all got to reboot this past weekend!

I want to do nothing more than bake in the late summer sun and listen to the cicadas today but oh I have so many things on my to do list...sigh. Maybe I'll get two or three things checked off and then reward myself :)

I started my day off right today...enjoyed some fresh sliced strawberries, yogurt and honey for breakfast, took a little yoga time for myself and gave both dogs extra long walks!

After my great start I slowed down a bit but have been slowly churning out jewelry in the studio and have listed another set of photos in the shop.

These were taken on a trip to New York City earlier this summer for an art fair. After the fair was over I spent a few extra days in the city visiting with my brother and an old friend. I went to Central Park for the first time and was taken aback at what a treasure it really is plopped down in the center of a bustling metropolis.

I just got back from Cincinnati, OH where I had a week full of visiting, drinking and eating with friends and family, riding bikes and relaxing outside...lovely!

As promised, here's a little write up from my weekend in NYC...

I flew in on Friday night and settled in to my friend Nina's lovely condo by Battery Park. On Saturday morning me, my bro and Nina headed over to Brooklyn to set up for the big weekend. The weather looked very ominous right from the start and low and behold it rained almost the whole day. But despite the damp weather people were out and about and buying. In my brother's words "us New Yorkers are a tough breed. A little rain won't keep us inside" :)

Sunday turned out to be a beautiful day and it was busy busy busy! I met so many CUTE dogs and many wonderful people.

Thanks to everyone who came out to visit my booth at Renegade Brooklyn and support the handmade movement! You're all wonderful and I couldn't be doing what I'm doing with out your support! A big thank you also needs to go out to my bro and Nina. Thanks for your all your help this past weekend and most importantly thanks for your company, love and friendship!

I had one extra day in town after the show and spent most of the day at Central Park. I am so amazed by this expanse of green space plopped down right in the center of a bustling city. It's wonderful that this park has been preserved since 1873. If I lived in NYC I would definitely visit there often. Most of the photos below are of Renegade Brooklyn or Central Park.

I went thrifting and scored an awesome mid century modern corner table from PhilCraft (out of Cincinnati, OH) and a few green bottles that got added to my vintage bottle collection in the kitchen.

I haven't found the perfect spot for my new table yet so for now it's resting in the front room by the window.

I also found this great little shelf in the alley outside my apartment (it's moving season here in Chicago...the best time to find treasures in the alleys). I put my new shelf in my studio where it is housing some tools, supplies and a few treasures. Perf!

I also potted a few plants and put them on my "balcony". For how small our outdoor living space is I'm pretty happy with how nice it looks this season.

The doggies really wanted to come out too. Aren't they cute!

and now it's off to work in the studio. Lots of sawing and soldering to get done.

Can you believe that the year is almost half way passed already! Time seems to be slipping away from me and "it's night before it's afternoon". I have so many things planned, so many things to do and so many things I'm dreaming to do but oh how times flies...and I don't get half the things I want, plan and dream to do done.

I'm working on living my life day to day and trying to fill each one to the brim. Cherishing everything and every moment in it.

I bought this cute little mallard planter from a thrifting adventure a few days ago. He's so cute! I love him!

A day of sailing and exploring at Humboldt Park...there wasn't a cloud in the sky and the breeze was chilly but refreshing.

The boys sailed for a long time!

I walked around the park and looked for inspiration and felt peace and balance (a feeling that is few and far between for me here in the city).

I sat by the pond and watched the water glisten in the sun and found some small treasures.
