Fall is on it's way

The air is feeling crisp and cool (at least here in the city) so we've been keeping the windows open to let in the fresh air...it's been nice! Fall is one of my favorite seasons. I think this is mostly due to the lovely falls in Bloomington, IN where I lived for 5 years...and because of the great holidays during fall! I should get some warm colored mums for the back porch and make some yummy banana bread or chili to mark the coming of the season. Since it is the midwest I'm pretty sure that a few summer days will sneak their way in before they're totally gone and I won't complain :)

I'm still busy preparing for Renegade and have a few new pieces to share. They're all available in my etsy shop... and hurry there's only a few days left for my big sale!

I've also been keeping my hands busy with embroidering. I find it to be a pretty relaxing activity and a nice break from the sawing, filing, sanding, etc. of metalsmithing. Here's a few cards I made...so now I need to write some friends little note!

Hope everyone is have a lovely saturday!

Just finished pair of new earrings...

They're now available in my etsy shop

enjoy!

What happened to the day!!!!

While working today I glanced at the clock, it read 1:12, next thing I know I look again and its 4:54! Yikes! I was supposed to get my tanks filled today but the place closes at 5...totally lost track of time. Guess I'll have to get them filled first thing tomorrow and it looks like the rest of the day will have to be spent solely with piercing out designs.

I've been working on a new website which I just launched! It's still a little rough around the edges but check it out. I'd love to know what everyone thinks. It's much more organized and easier to navigate than my old site and you can now purchase pieces directly from my site...pretty exciting!

I'm still in the process of uploading more photos and info and hope to have it all done by next week.

I've also been working on some new designs to have at Renegade. Some photos of those pieces will be up tomorrow.

til next time
cheers!

Installation Progress

My progress on the the three mixed media pieces I will be installing at the Altgeld/Sawyer community garden in Chicago is coming along slowly and one of the experiments I had tried didn't work out :( but I think I've got the final sketch in my head of what I'll be doing now...stay tuned! I think I may even create a series of wall hangings that will come out of these

It's beautiful here in the city today and it feels almost like fall is coming!

Ramblings and what not...

Sorry my blogging has been so sporadic and sparse lately! I've been busy getting ready for Renegade and making pieces for etsy orders...and blogging always seem to get put on the backburner. Hopefully I can get back on the bandwagon this week and post more regularly!

My mom was in town for a fun weekend. We went to the Chicago Air and Water show(pics to come soon), visited some new neighborhoods, ate lots of food and walked a ton. We also relaxed a little...my mom knit (she is a pro at knitting and makes beautiful things...I'll let you all know when she gets an etsy shop) while I tried my hand at embroidering. I liked it a lot and will be stitching some more in my down time.

We went to the farmers market and picked up some fresh fruits and veggies. Can't wait to make my mom's famous zucchini bread, yum! I bought a lovely bouquet with some cockscomb in it (one of my favorite plants).

I'm also working on a few new designs today...so check back as I plan to have them finished, photographed, blogged and listed in my Etsy Shop so they can be a part of my BIG SALE!

I've been doing a little experimenting and playing around so that I can get a good idea of what I'll be doing for my installation at my neighborhood Community Garden. This is something in the very beginning stages. The whole thing will be covered with wire frames which will then be covered with fiber and plastic!
I'll share more as I get further along.

'Til next time (hopefully this evening)
Cheers!

What better way to kick off the last month of summer than to have a giant sale in my etsy shop! Please pass along the information and let all of your friends, family and significant others know where they can get a great deal on some beautiful jewelry!

I am also offering Home Parties/Trunk Shows as a way to show and sell my jewelry. The host will receive either jewelry or a percentage of the sales so If you are interested drop me an e-mail and we'll chat.

I got accepted to do an installation at a Community Garden in my neighborhood The Altgeld Sawyer Corner Farm I'll be sharing photos of the progress and final installation at the garden. I'm super excited because this is the first time I'll have made such a large construction out of the fiber and plastic material.

I also have some other exciting opportunities and shows on the horizon which I will keep everybody posted about...until then I added a new section on the right side of my blog that lists all upcoming events and shows so take look. Hopefully I'll be updating it often :)

*added later in the day*
I finished a few brooches today that I wanted to get up in my shop before my big sale :)
Here they are and they're now available

Chicago Botanical Garden

I took a 50mile round trip bike ride to the Chicago Botanical Gardens yesterday with my boyfriend, Eric. I've never been to the Gardens before but I will definitely be going back soon! It was absolutely beautiful; a wonderful escape from the city! We took lots of photos for inspiration (some of these were taken by my Eric)...
Sorry for the gobs of photos. There was just so much to look at that we couldn't put down the camera! Hope you all enjoy them :)

For some news...I made it into Renegade! Wahoo! It will be held in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood on Division St. te weekend of sept. 12 and 13. More info. to come as the show gets a little closer.

My jewelry will also be available next week at a small paper and gift boutique in Lincoln Park, Elizabeth Grace. If you live in the area you should go check it out.

I bought some new art...

The Indoor Art Market turned out to be a success. It was organized very well, the traffic was good and the other artists surrounding me were fantastic and great to chat with! I had a lot of fun! I took a few photos of my setup and some of the other artists as well and I bought a small painting by Jessica Price and some gesture ink and watercolor note cards by Mia Schon (her original paintings were absolutely fantastic).

I also had time to swing by the farmers market before the show started on on Sunday and pick up some delicious sweet cherries and a bunch of flowers.

Hope everyone has a good week ahead!
